  2. You will find the same Competency Model that is Figure 1.5 on page 45.  If you click on each of the segments, you get more detail on each.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “Planning your own personal development”  This will open up a pdf file (Using the ATD Competency Model – Action Planning for Individuals) that you can print out.  Print it out and score yourself.  Fill out the various action plans under each segment.  Save this information and use in #6 Your Written Paper.
  4. Go back to the main page of the competency model, scroll down to the bottom of the page and this time click on the “plan professional development for your organization”  It will open up a pdf file (Using the New ATD Competency Model – Action Planning for Organizations), that you can print out.  Print it out and score your current organization you work in.  Save this information and use in # 6 Your Written Paper
  5. Filling out both forms gives you an idea of what competencies you as a training professional will need and what action planning needs to be done to make you a well equipped training professional within a high performing organization.
  6. Write a 7page paper that combines what you learned about your skill set from # 3, above and what action plans (# 4 above) you will need as a training professional in your organization.

1. Go to page 45 in the text. In Figure 1.5 is the Association for Talent Develop (ATD)
Competency Model. ATD is the most prestigious professional organization for training
and development professionals.

2. Go to the first four documents called ‘Action Planning for Individuals.’ Print out all 4 of

the documents and follow the instructions to score yourself. Save this information and
use in # 5 Your Written Paper

3. Go to the last document called the ‘Action Planning for Organizations. Print out the

document and score your organization on the various Areas of Expertise (AOE). You do
not have to fill out the Resources Needed. Save this information and use in #5 Your
Written Paper.

4. Filling out both forms will give you an idea of what competencies you as a training
professional will need and what action planning needs to be done to make you a well

5. Write a 7page paper that combines what you learned about your skill set from # 2

above, (Action Plan for Individuals) and, use # 3 above (Action Plan for Organizations.)

personal areas that need improvement, your organizations strengths and
weaknesses (Action Planning for Organizations) and your suggested
improvements for your organization.

d. 1 page on other sources that you research that might aid in your
implementation in your organization.

e. Reference page (at least 3-5 references)
f. Any addendums you might have.

D. Note: I would suggest you think some about how training might be conducted in a
post Covid world.
