“Hamilton’s America/ Lin-Manuel Miranda, Shakespeare, and Hip Hop”
and use the information from the videos to answer the following short answer questions. If you are not familar with The Revolutionary War and Alexander Hamilton’s history, I highly encourage you to also read “Hamilton’s Biography.”
**Each answer should be written in paragraph form**.

Alexander Hamilton Biography
Questions: Be sure to answer all four questions to receive credit.
· The American Dream asserts that America is the land of opportunity where anyone has the chance to achieve greatness. From what you’ve learned so far, what early obstacles should have prevented Alexander Hamilton from achieving his dreams? What talents and/or opportunities helped him along the way?
· In “An Immigrant Story,” Lin-Manuel Miranda says he feels like he is playing his dad in Hamilton. Why? What does his dad have in common with Alexander Hamilton? From watching this video, what can you infer about Miranda’s motivation for making Hamilton?
· In Lin-Manuel Miranda, Shakespeare, and Hip Hop,” one of the people interviewed compares Miranda’s work to Shakespeare. Why? What does he think they have in common? What do you think about that assertion?
· From watching Hamilton so far, what do you think of the play’s style? Style, in this context, means the aesthetic choices made to portray the events of The American Revolution. Is there anything you find compelling? Anything that doesn’t resonate with you? Explain your answer using examples from the play to justify your response.
