Unit 3 Lab: Configuring an Active Directory Domain Controller

Unit Outcomes:

• Explain the purpose of Directory Services.
• Describe the process of adding client systems to the domain.
• Compare, the various types of network services, such as port processing and packet scheduling.
• Explain technical considerations of NAT, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Explain the various roles of connectionless and connection-oriented transport.

Course Outcome:

IT530-2: Explore a centralized server architecture (Client-Server Model).

Purpose

Network management entails a broad range of functions including activities, methods, procedures and the use of tools to administrate, operate, and reliably maintain computer network systems. This lab will give you hands-on knowledge of the role that Active Directory plays as a tool for centrally managing a network.

Lab Instructions

Complete the Jones & Bartlett Lab “Configuring an Active Directory Domain Controller.”

Use the lab instructions, given within the lab’s virtual environment, as a guide for what to submit and save your lab results as a Word document. You should use your lab results to complete the Lab 3 Assessment Questions. Make sure to include your answers to the Assessment Questions in your lab document file.
