  1. FINAL PROJECT – WEEK SIX ASSIGNMENT:

    Now that at you have researched and detailed a project for the past five weeks, you are ready to make your presentation. You will summarize the details from your research these past five weeks as well as present an SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) proposal for the new or improved health care service that you want to introduce into the community’s health care system.

    Create a PowerPoint presentation with a minimum of twelve slides. Some of the content may be better presented as handouts (for example, your floor plan or organizational chart). Use your own discretion in the best way to present your information. If you are going to use handouts or attachments, I recommend also having a slide with detailed speaker’s notes for the content; then you could include a note to “See Attachment One” or “See details in the packet you have been provided”, etc.

    Include the following information although the order will vary based on how you want to present your proposal. This assignment will require you to use critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills to organize your material for presentation.

    Introduce yourself and greet your selected audience. Be sure to have a clear understanding of who you are presenting to and what actions you are wanting them to take. For example, your audience could be members of the community, decision makers from local healthcare organizations, potential investors, etc. Can you see how your presentation will vary based on your intended audience?
    Include information on the SBAR process as well as detailing each element with information from your research for the project. Inform your audience of the basics of SBAR. You will organize your information appropriately so that you have the relevant information for each part of the SBAR. (Your SBAR information can be a handout or integrated into your slides; your presentation should mention the handout if you are choosing that option.)
    Situation
    Background
    Assessment
    Recommendation
    Note that the organization of the material will vary. For example, if you are using existing space in a healthcare facility for your proposed services, the floor plan may fall under an area other than recommendation. Whereas, if you are proposing a brand new space, it may be best covered under Recommendation.

For example, when discussing the city you may have several slides to cover all of the details about demographics, population, other healthcare services, etc.
    Detailed speaker’s notes must accompany each slide with explanation of the content for each slide and the use of citations where sources are used. (Do not substitute voiceovers, etc.) Your speaker’s notes are to be complete and provide sufficient detail to cover the content of the slide. NO VOICE OVERS ARE TO BE DONE – USE SPEAKER’S NOTES TO EXPLAIN THE CONTENT ON THE SLIDES.

The rationale reason of why I chose this city is because this is where I lived for 5 years and I

don’t really have any prior experience about the existing healthcare system in Waldorf, MD but I

do know that the healthcare personnel are excellent and extradorinary. However, I do know that

they building new facilities out here to accommodate the population that’s growing.

In conclusion, to enhance competition in the health care system and improve the health care system’s affordability, the organizations should leverage much on the patient outcome since patients are the key elements in the health sector. The health institutions should revolutionize the breakthrough medicine where health care is made more affordable by people from different backgrounds. Rewarding the best results for patients can be used as one of the elements to improve patients’ affordability (Engel et al., 2020). The strong relationship across the organizations will enhance the aspect of innovation and creativity. The second way the system can be restructured to meet the health care goals is by utilizing management. Ensuring the patients in the community obtain a better deal on medicine can help improve the people’s health care and maintain their wellbeing.

Introduction;

Health is an important and crucial factor for the citizens of Waldorf, Maryland about its safety and security. Maryland underlies the 18th population within the nation when it comes to the overall population of health, and it is also considered to do more than good. The population on the health improvement plan, which is presented here, gives out the concept of making improvements for the health population at Maryland. The plan will describe the first phase in the extensive or collaborative process that will be needed to be taken at Maryland to develop a multi-sectoral approach in improving the outcomes of health with the health equity of Marylanders. The foundation design of Maryland’s work towards improving the processes or the framework gives out the initial roadmap into various partners within Maryland in identifying and guiding the plans in the population of the health improvement priorities and improvements (Adam Rubenfire, 2015).

Maryland’s Transformation in the Health System;

There is more commitment than it was in the state of Maryland towards their better achievement in health, better care, and the cost that is moderate. In the agreement of Centre for Medicare or Medicaid Service with Maryland, there was the launch of the All-Payer Model towards making changes on the way there was the provision of care which was making the shift of the financial system which was based on the volume in the services towards the value-based and hospital-specific system. While Waldorf is still in the early stages of the transformation, it has been able to achieve the success towards improving their care and making the limiting of the cost for their citizens (Golshan, 2020).

The Maryland All-Player Model;

The State of Maryland signed up the agreement with the Chief Medical Service in the year 2014 in implementing the Maryland All-payer model towards limiting the total hospital care on the cost growth for each capita while making improvements for the care or the health outcomes. When Maryland implemented the hospitals budget, there was the change of the financial incentives whereby the business model showed up on the shift in the volume generation at the hospital settings towards making the encouragements on the health of the populations at the management strategies which could reduce the avoidable utilization thus improving the quality of care at the MedStar Health Centers. The MedStar Health Centers has been showing the high performance towards their population (Maryland systems, 2015).

Proposal of The Maryland Centers in Waldorf, Maryland.

Maryland hospital has shown its preparedness and working hard with their team members to be sure that everything is running well as planned. They have a plan whereby they make sure that their patients are taken care of, giving the patients good treatments in making their treatments a success. Maryland hospitals have also cared for their population. They have started new technological ways towards helping their patients get better and further enjoy or ease their services whenever they are in the health system. These are evident when there is the availability of machines from new technologies to improve their health services (Adam Rubenfire, 2015).

The health center has the introductions of the telemedicine where they can get their medicines just directly and efficiently without the help of the health officers but the machine and the patients. The health service has also engaged in serving their patients by giving them cards through the sessions that they need to meet up with their doctors to get their consultations. With this factor, it is very evident that the Maryland health center will be having a good time on how they get to serve their patients in the way that they will all be able to make the treatments, saving time and also avoiding the collusion between the patients and their doctors thus taking good care of the population (Golshan, 2020).

Maryland’s Working Design;

Maryland has put in place a unique type of working design that they have been able to enforce to make their services so much reliable and efficient for their population. For instance, they have large rooms which are spacious that help in the creation of the room. When there is the creation of rooms, it will be of advantage for both the patient and the health officers to get privacy so that they can discuss their hep since they might be having a private conversation about the patient’s health improvements. A large amount of the treatment rooms in Maryland health care are also important since it highly reduces any mode of the contagious diseases spread through the air, for example, the COVID-19 (Maryland systems, 2015).

Having enough treatment rooms is of benefits since healthcare can do the separation model, such as putting aside the people going through different types of diseases. For instance, one floor of the room will be having the people suffering from Malaria and other rooms being categorized subsequently. Through this, it will enable the health officers in having easy times whereby they will be able to access or give their medical medication to their patients easily and also know what topic they can be talking about at any particular rooms for instance, when the health officers talk to their patients about their well-being through counseling and motivating them. The health officers need to make sure that they have their workstations which they will be using and making teamwork so that they can help each other’s fix up the challenges that they are facing so that they will have the ways that they will acquire nice and effective approaches towards their patients (Adam Rubenfire, 2015). To accommodate the extra treatments rooms and everything the main building which will be newly constructed at least 55,000 square foot, three-story facility.

Conclusion.

In conclusion, when the stated approaches are kept in use with the city Waldorf, Maryland MedStar health care for their small populations, they will be able to achieve their goals of giving out the best cares for their patients or population and making them both have a good time through the maintenance of their health, just like it is said that ‘Health Comes First’ (Golshan, 2020).

Introduction

Maryland hospital has indicated its readiness and determination with their staffs to ensure everything is running well and effectively planned. They has a proposal whereby they ensure that their patients are well catered for, giving patient’s effective care in making treatment success. The hospital has taken care of its population since they have started new technological ways to help their patients get better and further enjoy their services whenever they are in health system. There are evident when there is the availability of machines from new technologies to enhance their health services (Adam, 2015).

In Waldorf, health is a really important factor for the citizens. The health care policy in Maryland includes the conception and implementation of rules and regulations that help in proper management of the state’s healthcare system. Services in the health care system are provided by only medical professionals. They diagnose and treat as well as prevent mental and physical illnesses. Additionally, in the system there are things such as health information technology insurance and pharmaceuticals.

The MedStar healthcare system goal is to provide high quality healthcare in Maryland, with respect and compassion for its patients. Everyone working in this healthcare system has goal in mind of fulfilling the systems mission of providing top notch health care services. Services such as the electronic medical records, patient check in and check out and billing are very important in any health facility. These processes are crucial as they contribute towards the process of treatment (Golshan, 2020).

Electronic Medical Records and Electronic Health Records.

An electronic medical record is a digital version of patients records .It consists of the medical history of a patient. This includes the doctor, nurses, diagnoses and treatment. The electronic health records on the other hand are also digital but have more information about the patient. It can also be shared across different authorized health providers when necessary.

For any healthcare facility to function effectively they should ensure that the patients record are well kept and organized. The methods above are very much reliable. MedStar healthcare in partnership with Cerner have provided an expanded enterprise electronic health record that allows physicians to access readily, patients information across the ongoing period of health care provision.

Patients check -in and check- out

This involves the first and last opportunity for interaction with a patient. The first impression while checking in matters a lot as it sets the mood for the rest of the remaining period before the patient checks out. It is very important for the patient to leave while fully satisfied with the service offered. MedStar health care has provided a solution to urgent care patients’ .There is an online program for checking in, that allows patients to book in advance a time for checking in at their own convenience. The online check in program has wonderful features that make sure the patient’s time is not wasted and they still receive the best services.

Billing in healthcare

This refers to payments for health services. It sometimes becomes a hustle if this is being done through an insurance agency. Even after insurance details are submitted by the patient at the front desk of the hospital there is still more to be done. The healthcare facility receives its final payment after the agency settles the claim. It is a really important process that requires great attention in provision of healthcare services. MedStar healthcare provides an online payment service that makes the billing process easy for patients.

Kurt Lewin’s Change management theory

The Lewin’s change theory is simple to implement and is also impact full. It has the uncanny ability to bring out bad patterns or unseen problems and get a whole new approach towards implementing the solution. Furthermore it encourages lasting change by creating a momentum for consistency, in implementing the new strategy.

Conclusion.

In Waldorf, Maryland, improvement of healthcare is not a neglected field. Provision of good healthcare is very important and that is what MedStar healthcare is good for. They offer credible services when it comes to the field of health. Implementation of change in the health care facilities is also very crucial for positive results. Hence the best methods available should be used.

Introduction

Access to comprehensive healthcare services and quality is crucial for maintaining and promoting health, managing and preventing disease, reducing disabilities and premature deaths that are unnecessary, and achieving everyone’s health equity. (IPatientCare, 2016) Quality improvement of healthcare is meant for improving effectiveness, safety, and efficiency. For that reason, designing a healthcare system needs indulgence in specialized tools and methods known to assist improvement. (Healthypeople, 2020) Healthcare is vital to society since it is the first point of contact to keep people well and enhance their life quality. A strong and accessible PHC system reduces the hospital’s pressure by supporting individuals in managing their health issues in society (Rishu Agarwal, 2017).

MedStar Health in Waldorf, Maryland

Waldorf, MD, underlies the 18th population within the nation when it comes to the overall population of health, and it is also considered to do more than good. This city is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the county of Saint Charles, Maryland, in the United States. The population of the census-designated area in the 2007 census was 67,752. The male population was 31,817, and the female population was 35,935. The healthcare system that is selected is MedStar Health, which is located in Maryland. To enhance competition in the health care system and improve the health care system’s affordability, the organizations should leverage much on the patient outcome since patients are the key elements in the health sector.

The health institutions should revolutionize the breakthrough medicine where health care is made more affordable by people from different backgrounds. Rewarding the best results for patients can be used as one element to improve patients’ affordability. The strong relationship across the organizations will enhance the aspect of innovation and creativity. The second way the system can be restructured to meet the health care goals is by utilizing management. Ensuring the patients in the community obtain a better deal on medicine in which can help improve the people’s health care and maintain their wellbeing. The floor plan has been proposed to have large spacious rooms. With more spacious rooms, it will be advantageous for both the patient and the healthcare officers to have privacy so that they can discuss their help so they can have a private conversation about the patient’s health improvements. A large amount of the treatment rooms in Maryland health care are also crucial since it highly reduces any mode of contagious diseases spread through the air.

To accommodate the extra rooms, the main building that will be nearly constructed 55,000 square foot, three-story facility. The organization chart starts with the president, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief Human Resource Officer, Director Administration, Registration Manager, Laboratory Manager, Facilities Manager, Chiefs Operations Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Nursing, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, General Health, Chief Medical Officer, Orthopedics, Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer. For a healthcare facility to be effective, there are some costs that they need to incur for the business’s perfect running. Some of these costs are; direct costs, indirect costs. Direct costs are the costs that are directly attributable to patient care. Indirect costs are costs that are not related directly to the patients.

The anticipated costs

Some of the anticipated costs are; property the facility will almost be newly constructed for at least 55,000 square foot, three-story facility. The facility will be constructing new rooms that will be accommodating. The other anticipated costs are salaries; this will be incurred each month, so running the facility is a cost. They are the salaries that will be given to the employees who work in the facility. The other expenses are telecommunication. These are the costs, for instance, that are used for the telephone networks, internets, and computer networks that are used in the facility used for communication between employees and also the patients. The other costs that will be incurred are utilities; these costs may include water bills, electricity bills, and so on. Additional costs are licensing and permits; they are all permits, agreements, licenses, and authorization agreed to or issued by any private party or governmental authority and also can include building permits and so on (Steve Milano, 2020). So, these are also the costs that the facility will be incurring for them to run it effectively.

Other costs are taxes; they are the amount of money that will be given to the government so that they can be able to pay for public services. This cost will be incurred every month. Other costs that will be incurred by the facility are maintenance costs; these are the costs that the facility will incur to keep their assets, such as computers, in good condition. These costs may be spent on maintaining items such as running anti-virus software on a computer system. Other costs are food and medical equipment. Costs such as food are the costs incurred by providing food to the inpatients. The other one is professional liability insurance. These are the costs the facility will incur for it to provide the healthcare services to the patients and run the facility.

Revenue streams are different sources of income. My planned revenue streams for the facility that I have proposed are from collecting out-of-pocket payments from the patients. This is where the patients will be paying for the services that they will be getting from the facility. The patients will be charged a fee regarding the care that they get from the facility. My proposed facility’s other source of income is by filing a claim with private insurance organizations and being paid through reimbursements. The other source is from foreign embassies. (Slalom Healthcare & Life Sciences, 2019) The other source of income is by billing the government in case of Medicaid and Medicare. With the quality services that the patients will be given, they will not feel hard to pay for the services and still visit the facility always, and that will keep the facility going because the patients will not opt to go for other services, and that will bring revenue to the facility. So, the organization will still be in business after we open because it will be providing the best services.

In conclusion, healthcare is an essential aspect of society, and the community with healthcare facilities also has healthy citizens. Healthcare organizations should provide healthcare services that are of good quality and ensure that they are given the services they require. The healthcare facilities should not offer expensive services to the patients since not all people can afford costly facilities and promote services that are fair to all the patients in society.
