· I want to just say really clearly so there’s two places that you can get information your state Social Work board is the place to go to get information about your licensure. So if you live in Missouri. You don’t want to be gone to California to find out about your licensure, you want to get your license your, from your state board.

· There is also a resource at Walden SW licensure at nailed that Walden you edu and we if you have questions, they can get you information about your state specific questions.

· There’s also an organization called as WB the Association for social work boards and they are the ones who actually oversee the testing.

· And provide some support, and I encourage you to check out their webpage, but we will be providing you with a course that you can access at your leisure.

· So a little bit about academic advising you did not have to go to a field or academic advising session. Those are not required.

· We also are offering what we call professional advisement field advisement or academic advising

· Field and academic advising are just as their name sounds professional advisement will take place on Wednesday afternoon, you can meet with faculty from across the program.

· 08:45Let me return to the to our conversation about the licensure.

· 09:06MSW students are not required, and will also be providing opportunities to meet with

· 09:11With your professional advisement. And you can go through your student portal to engage with an advising session therefore reasons you should see an advisor. You’ve never ever spoken to them before.

· You need to discuss your field placement, or you’ve been put on academic progress or something about your GPA or what we call our program of study, which is your roadmap for the courses that you’ll need to take

· Those are all good reasons to engage with your faculty.

· All of you ology is about that. So we’re going to talk a little bit about the purpose about the field assignment. The skills lab class. So just a little bit about where we’re going here. And what we’re trying to do.

· You’re going to learn material evidence based practices. We’re preparing you for your field placement

· And developing your knowledge, awareness, and skills. Importantly, you’re also going to get a chance to connect with your

· MSW community. So you’ll be with your faculty live and with other students live. And that’s going to be a pretty amazing.

· Opportunity for you to get a sense of and build the idea around what it means to be a social worker.

· We will be assessing your readiness for field. And I’ll talk about that in a second. That is our job.

· And we are going to be providing you with the needed awareness, knowledge and skills. So there’s two points on which we’re going to assess you during skills lab your professional behavior in all forms of communication and this includes

· Are you being respectful and punctual, and generally behaving in a way that engages you with the classroom materials. So if you’re joining this session. If you could please step out this is being recorded.

· So again, talking about the, the purpose of your skills lab a professional in all forms of communication, as well as supervision and consultation and the ability to receive feedback.

· skills lab is a pass or fail class and we’re going to do this through your engagement in the sessions.

· Professional comportment how you behave and how well you engage in the sessions. We’re going to help you become and assure and assess your readiness for field as well as your attendance in the sessions. If you do not receive a satisfactory grade. You’ll have to retake skills. Now,

· This is a professional degree preparing you for a professional

· Life licensed career. So what we’re asking you to do is that this the you be professional and punctual in all manner of your

· Experience in this program and outside of it. In terms of our expectations. We do ask that you be fully engaged in the classroom.

· You cannot be doing other work while,You have to be doing other things while in the class. You can’t be doing your work. You can’t be doing your chores.

· We ask that you not be doing homework assignments and the you not be doing your hobbies, while you’re engaged in this classroom, I suppose, if you did knitting.

· You might be able to do that because you could probably stay pretty engaged. We also ask that you do not zoom in, Dr. Know zoom ism on the slinky slick. So please do not do that as well. And make sure that you are fully engaged in the session. So do not zoom and drive.

· So successful completion is 100% attendance. If you miss a class you will be giving an assignment you cannot have a planned.

· If you miss more than two days, you’ll fail skills lab 2.

· The schedule is generally going to go something like this, I would follow what your faculty member says, Basically, you’ll go from 9am until 6pm each day, with the exception of Thursday. The only time that you can step out outside of breaks and lunch is if you have a field and academic advising appointment.

· Classroom schedule at a glance for skills lab to there are four clinical skills sessions that you can choose, and you’ve already reviewed and prepared for

· Those you will also choose on your own, that you should have been assigned to a group, you should have a topic and you should be working your way towards your final project. So if you have questions about that. I’m talk with your faculty

· There we ask that you think very carefully about your purpose and skills lab skills them as a time for you to

· To engage in the materials of learning, social work, it’s not a time for you to talk about other class experiences or

· Or if you’ve had a bad experience with a faculty member or a classroom. This isn’t the place to do that. We’re happy to get your feedback, but just not here.

· There is also sensitive information that couldn’t be shared during a skills lab. These are educational environments, and we ask that you not disclose sensitive information during your time during the skills lab. This is not a therapy session. It is a educational session.

· Only registered students can attend skills lab. If you have any special needs. Make sure to reach out to your instructors. If you need assistance, feel free to

· Connect with myself or and I would start with your faculty member, they can give you the best assistance.

· If you need broader assistance for stress, anxiety, depression, grief or loss or life changes. We do have a Student Assistance Program and that will be completed.

· In a that’s something that you have access to for free of charge. And please keep all your phones off and stay and undistracted manner.

· We will be sending out an assessment to you that we ask that you fill out and give us feedback on the program Zoom is the class as the

· collab form of choice. So we ask that you close any unneeded documents applications and browsers to limit your distraction. We also ask that your dress is business casual

· Make your skills lab count take care of the research take advantage of the resources, ask questions and engage and we find that students who put their all into skills lab, get a lot out of it. So again, congratulations.
