2- Assignment paper and powerpoint
2. Signature Assignment:
Class Presentation After you complete the research paper Counseling Women in Battering Relationships, you are asked to present your findings in the form of a presentation.
This should be easy because you already have done the research and possess all the information necessary to share it in the form of a presentation. Pretend that you are presenting to your classmates, or that you are doing a presentation at a professional counseling conference. You probably noticed in the rubric (at the end of the syllabus) that this presentation follows the same format as the paper.
Presentations are intended to expand on your skills related to the selected topic (cultural group) along with the application of the multicultural counseling competencies to such group. The presentation should include a discussion of awareness, knowledge, skills and advocacy in providing mental health services.
This assignment may be presented using voice-over PowerPoint or video recording.
The presentation must be no less than 20 minutes long and be divided into 4 sections to correspond to the 4 sections of the research paper (minimum of 5 minute per section).
See detailed rubric at the end of the syllabus.
Signature Assignment:
Class Presentation. Students present a topic on relevant cultural issues.
Presentations are intended to expand on a topic pertinent to a specific cultural group along with the application of the multicultural counseling competencies to such group. The presentation should include a discussion of awareness, knowledge, skills and advocacy in providing mental health services.
This assignment may be presented using PowerPoint if so desired but it is not a requirement and may include an exercise or other type of experiential activity (not to exceed 60 minutes).
Topics and presentations times will be determined during the first week of class. Know that your topic selection may necessitate additional discussion surrounding topics that are not in the rubric. For example, if you chose to talk about individuals that have immigrated or are currently considered refugees you will need to broaden your scope to include international considerations. See detailed rubric in the appendix.
