Your goal statement needs to be 1) prevention focused and 2) within the scope of this portfolio (i.e., we don’t have a lot of control over what the medical establishment might do). Consider what YOUR specific prevention goal is within the scope of this assignment.

Provide a summary of the Social-Ecological Model to start this section (2-3 sentences are plenty). This is where you demonstrate your mastery of the course content, so explaining the SEM accomplishes that goal. Be sure to cite the learning resources as you describe the model in your paper.

Describe the risk and protective factors at each of the five levels of influence in the Social-Economical Model: individual, family, peer, school, and community/cultural. Provide specific examples relevant to your social problem (i.e., you may have to do additional research of scholarly sources). Also, the Swearer and Hymel article in the Week 3 resources provides an overview of these levels.

Create a section in your Social Change Portfolio called “Part 3: Theories of Prevention” and add an applicable theory(ies) and include the following:

1 or 2 theories that you can apply to a prevention program to address PRESCRIPTION DRUG OVERDOSE and justify why this theory(ies) is/are appropriate for the problem and population you have identified

Briefly summarize research support for the theory or theories you chose

Identify an existing evidence-based program for this target problem
