1 LGBTQ IS AN ABBREVIATION THAT REFERS TO LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL,
TRANSGENDER, AND QUESTIONING OR QUEER. THE TERMINOLOGY IS USED TO
DENOTE AND DESCRIBE ONE’S SEXUAL IDENTITY OR GENDER ORIENTATION. To
be a little more precise, I will define each term as presented in the acronym. Lesbian refers to a
woman who have an emotional attraction to fellow women, and some of them even prefer to be

termed as gay women. Gay refers to an adjective that describes men who have a sexual attraction to
fellow men, bisexual on the other hand, it refers to persons having the capability of enduring
romantic attractions to individuals of the same gender. Also, the transgender refers to persons
whose gender expression oppose to what they were assigned at their onset or at birth, and finally,
the Q in the acronym in the whole term refers to the persons questioning their gender identity or
sexual orientation.
This assignment discussion will mainly dwell on the con point of argument involving the LGBTQ.
1 THERE IS A NUMBER OF STEREOTYPES THAT HAVE BEEN PEGGED WITH THE
LGBTQ IN THE SENSE THAT THEY ARE DIFFERENT AND THEREFORE
SUBJECTING THEM TO STEREOTYPING IN TODAY’S SOCIETY, WHICH INCLUDES
A VIEW THAT THESE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE BISEXUAL ARE ALL
PROMISCUOUS AS MOST OF THESE BISEXUAL PERSONS ARE MAINLY ACCUSED
OF BEING SO PROMISCUOUS BY NON-BISEXUAL INDIVIDUALS BECAUSE THEY
ARE ROMANTICALLY ATTRACTED BY BOTH WOMEN AND MEN, AND AT SOME
POINTS, THEY EVEN BLAME THEM FOR SPREADING HIV AND AIDS WITH THE
MENTALITY THAT MOST OF THEM WERE ENGAGING IN DANGEROUS SEXUAL
BEHAVIORS AND THEREFORE LIMITING THE MEMBERS OF THE LGBTQ FROM
EXPRESSING THEMSELVES FREELY AS THEY ARE CONSTANTLY VICTIMIZED
AND CRITIQUED BY THE MAJORITY HETEROSEXUALS (KENNEDY., 2020).
ANOTHER CON ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH PEGGED TO THE LGBTQ MEMBERS IS
THAT ONE CANNOT BE A QUEER AND STILL BEING RELIGIOUS. SOME
RELIGIONS HAVE A PERCEPTION THAT HOMOSEXUALITY DEFIES THE PILLARS
SET IN THEIR HOLLY BOOKS, THEREFORE, PUTTING THEM ASIDE IN TERMS OF
RELIGIOUS AFFILIATIONS.
Another con pegged with LGBTQ is the perception that most of them lesbians are masculine, which
at some extent may be true that a number of women who identify themselves as lesbians are
physically masculine in their appearances, the contrast is that every lesbian is majorly different and
therefore putting them into an incorrectly corral gathering or group of individuals. 1
ADDITIONALLY, THE LESBIAN RELATIONSHIPS ARE ALSO STEREOTYPED TO BE
ENCOMPASSING OF ONE WOMAN WHO IS ROBUSTLY MASCULINE AND ONE
2/12/2021 SafeAssign Originality Report

WHO IS TERMED AS MORE FEMININE AND THEREFORE MAKING THE
HETEROSEXUALS SUBJECT THEM TO CRITICISM AND THE LACK OF
ACKNOWLEDGMENT BY SOCIETY.
BISEXUAL PERSONS HAVE NO LIBIDO. THIS IS ANOTHER CON ASSOCIATED
WITH LGBTQ PERSONS, THEY MAY ENGAGE IN ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS,
BUT THEY DON’T FEEL SEXUALLY ATTRACTED TO THEIR PARTNERS. WITH THIS
LACK OF SEXUAL ATTRACTION, SOME OF THEM MAY STILL HAVE A LIBIDO.
THEY STILL FIND IT NOT TO BE SEXUALLY ATTRACTED TO ANY PERSON.
Additionally, the lesbians have been criticized by the society with stereotype subjected to them that
they hate men backed by the perception that these women don’t need men in their entire lives just
because their sexual association does not match with the heterosexuals and therefore subjecting
lesbians to societal negativities while in a real sense these lesbians are able to maintain a good
relationship with men, but they are only not sexually attracted to men.
Such skewed views negatively affect the members of the LGBTQ group in society as they will be
subjected to discrimination, stigma, and homophobia, and this really affects their health and
general individual wellbeing, which can adversely affect their mental and physical health whether
they seek and access health services, and the quality of such services and also in school settings they
are also discriminated. 1 THE NEGATIVE ATTITUDES PEGGED TO THE LGBTQ
GROUP MULTIPLY THEIR CHANCES OF BEING METED WITH VIOLENCE IN
SCHOOL SETTINGS COMPARE TO THEIR HETEROSEXUAL INDIVIDUALS IN THE
SAME ENVIRONMENT. SOME MAY ALSO FACE REJECTION FROM THEIR
FAMILIES, INCREASING THEIR CHANCES OF BEING HOMELESS.
IN COMIC SHOWS OR COMEDIES, THE LGBTQ GROUPS ARE NEGATIVELY
PAINTED. For instance, in the television drama series titled ‘why women kill’ two married couple,
a husband and wife, we’re happily married and even had one daughter, but the wife has constantly
been fighting her husband for not being able to satisfy her conjugal rights until when she realized
her husband was a gay who had his gay mate and later owns the husband was affected by a
mysterious illness which the whole neighborhood came to know, and they subjected him to stigma
and victimization and even in hospitals; the character was not even accorded necessary treatment
because of his gay sexual orientation (Cech et al., 2018).
