Scholarly Journal Database Search
For this assignment, you will learn how to search for scholarly, peer-reviewed articles using a database. You can access different databases (i.e., Academic Search Complete, EBSCO One Search) through the Mott library. Upload the completed document through Canvas. Below is a brief video showing you how to access the databases through MCC library.
- Develop a research question that could be empirically studied. (example. How does limited access to technology affect the success of low-income students?)
- Brain storm alternative keywords (search terms) to use in your database search. Think of broader, narrower, and related terms for two separate concepts. (examples: technology-computer, internet, digital divide; student success-student achievement, academic achievement; low-income-poverty, poor). (min. of 4 search terms for your topic)
- Select a database. Which database did you choose to search?
- How many results did you get with 2 search terms and all or your search terms at the same time?
- Select a useful peer-reviewed article from your search results and write down the article citation in APA format.
