The source of information elaborates on the history of American holidays. American holidays are an introductory survey of both social and historical information. Most of the holidays in America are not religious but are commemorative in both nature and origin. The program of holidays in the United States is mainly propelled by immense schedules of federal holidays but influenced mostly by the private sector employees. At the discretion of several employees, other non-federal holidays like Christmas and thanksgivings are celebrated annually and added to the list of paid holidays.
An example of general information from the source is how it details how the American holidays happen. The source’s specific information is illustrated on how Christmas happens, brief information on Santa Claus, and how thanksgiving and black Friday madness happens. Christmas is a holiday for gift-giving in the United States, while Black Friday madness is the first day of the shopping season in which most shops offer reduced prices for their products. Thanksgivings holidays are celebrated by most Americans, regardless of religion. The holidays have their traditions like having decorations, food, good company, and American football. Additionally, during the thanksgiving ceremonies, much respect is given to the early American settlers, the pilgrims, who celebrated the occasion to mark a successful harvest after experiencing a tough year.
Research is a strong foundation for either a particular theory or analysis. As such, the source of information is important because it provides reliable information. Without reliable sources, the readers may question the validity of a particular argument; hence specific information may not achieve its purpose. The source can be used to find information on the relevant history of federal and non-federal of the American Holidays. I would use the source in researching more on the history of American holidays. The three unknown vocabularies from the article are homage, parade, and venture. Homage refers to the respect that is shown to either individuals or a particular group of people publicly. Parade refers to a procession of persons usually organized for a particular reason, while the venture is a dare to do something that may be considered audacious.
