Project Description: Students will use their knowledge of the law of Sines and the Law of Cosines in order to write and solve two original word problems requiring the use of these laws. Students will display the problems and their solutions on a poster or in a portfolio.
Project Requirements: By 2/24/17, you must see me to get approval of the word problems that you plan to use for your project. You do not need to have all of the details at that point, but you should have the basic concept prepared. One of the problems must be a Law of Sines case (AAS or ASA) and the other must be a Law of Cosines case (SAS, SSS).
You will need to type each problem or write very neatly, making sure to include all of the necessary information. After you have written/typed the problem, you should let someone read it and sketch the picture of what you have described. If they do not draw it the way that you envisioned, you should work on rewriting the problem so the information is clear.
For each problem, create a picture (on a computer or neatly by hand) of the situation and include all of the given information. You will then solve each problem (showing ALL steps). You need to rewrite your calculations before putting them on your poster if the original calculations are not neat or if they contain errors. Express the final answer to each problem in a complete sentence and include the units of the measurement. You need to complete all the information (all sides and all angles) in the triangles.
Present your word problems, pictures, calculations, and final solutions on a neat, well-organized poster/portfolio. You should divide the poster either top/bottom or left/right in order to separate the Law of Sines problems from your Law of Cosines problem. Make sure your word problems and your pictures are creative! The poster should include the title and should have your name, date, period, and bible verse on the back.

Grading Rubric: The grading breakdown is as follows:
1. Approved word problems (1 Law of Sines and 1 Law of Cosines) /10 pts
2. Problems on poster are typed and clear/well written /10 pts
3. Pictures on poster are neat and labeled /10 pts
4. Law of Sines calculations are present and accurate /15 pts
5. Law of Cosines calculations are present and accurate /15 pts
6. Final solutions to problem are present and written in /15pts
complete sentence.
7. Creativity of world problems and pictures /15 pts
8. Neatness and Organization of Poster /10 pts
