Must respond with a minimum of 100 words to these three posts… I’m part of the group who agrees to the dropping of the atomic bomb on the japansese during WW2. My group pretends to be in favor of the bomb.
1.Karolyn) I feel as if you have made terrible decisions to commission in the military. You are all about using these nuclear powers that we have in order to hurt poor souls. I am writing you today to tell you that I am leaving and will not be coming back. I do not feel that our paths follow the same heart. You know that I have always had a soft spot for the children and old. This is why I am a nurse. I have only ever wanted to help people.
You made the decision to join the military and make what you call a heroic choice. I do not feel that purposely going out of your way to kill is the rightful way. Have you not thought of the damage this will cause to all people? You will not only be hurting the people who have wronged us, but the innocent too. How can you live with yourself? Have you not thought of the aftermath? What if they come back and attack us again? This is going to cause even more issues. What if I died because of the decisions you are making?
You know that I love you, but I can no longer love a murderer. I wish you well and a safe journey as I will not be here when or if you return.
2. Jonathon hefner) I am Jonathon Hefner and I have been fighting in the pacific for a few years now. I have heard that we the united states have dropped not just one but two bombs on the Japanese empire. They are are now talking about terms of surrender. This is great I have not seen my family in two years. I was extremely scared the talks of invading mainland japan were going to come true. I am not sure if I would have survivied that being on the front lines. I am not sure how long the Japs could have last if they had decided to turtle up back on their island but I do know there would have been a lot of death. Yes I know a lot of people were killed with those bombs but they are not the men and women of the United States that were killed. Yes, I know they were civilians that were killed with the bombs but you can not tell me you do not thing a lot more of them would have died if we invade the Japanese Empires home land? It may sound heartless and cold but I am ready to see my family and to end this war; maybe one day we can even be allies with the Japs.
3.(Jeannette hillard) As an exhausted fighter in this war of about four years going on what feels like forever, there could not have been a sweeter sight than when the Enola Gay took off from Tinian Island with her sights set on Hiroshima.1 We didn’t know exactly what was about to happen, but we knew “Little Boy” was about to make a big difference.
Once that bomb dropped it was clear to our enemies that we had the superior war technology and weapons. Japan finally swallowed its pride surrendered a few days later. This brought to an end the loss of lives for both the Japanese and American warriors. Trying to come up with a plan to invade Japan without significant loss of life seemed nearly impossible. There were limited areas to invade on a small island2, and this was territory that the Japanese were familiar and comfortable with. If the US hadn’t have escalated and hurried along the use of this weapon, who knows how long the war would have continued.
America also showed the Soviet Union that we have the capabilities and technology to win wars and we aren’t afraid to use them. We have a better weapons and a better way of doing things. We fight for democracy and to keep communism from spreading.
