For this course, you need to propose an idea for correlational, quasi-experimental or experimental research. You say one of the objectives is to identify measures that reduce the effects of prejudice and discrimination. That’s a good topic for this course if you were to design a study using an intervention that is supposed to reduce prejudice and then seeing if it does reduce prejudice. But I’m not seeing that in this research proposal. Your research hypotheses are more global ideas and not thing you can specifically test in a group of participants that you would propose to recruit. You should take one of these hypotheses and focus on that, designing a study to address the hypothesis. For example, for the third hypothesis you could propose to recruit participants and use a questionnaire to determine how much they feel prejudice and discrimination and then compare those who report higher levels of discrimination to those who report lower levels on their self-esteem scores. This assignment should have been more focused on a study that you would do with participants.

Effects of Prejudice and Discrimination Research Proposal

Introduction

Prejudice means having a predetermined opinion, judgment or attitude derived or imposed on certain people based on their membership to a particular group. It comprises a set of attitudes that affect, cause, and justify discrimination among people. On the other hand, discrimination means the ability to be able to distinguish and react to certain over a certain stimulus and ignore the other. Through this prejudice and discrimination are highly connected. There are different types of prejudice that include cognitive prejudice which focuses on what people believe to be true in their own culture, they include stereotypes, impressions, criticisms, assumptions that affect a person’s attitude toward others. Affective prejudice that deals with what people like and dislike in others and thus affecting their attitudes towards particular people (Kite and Whitley, 2016) .Finally cognitive prejudice focuses on how different people behave and are inclined to their behaviors. Therefore prejudice; leads to discrimination. Therefore this research proposal aims at identifying the effects of prejudice and discrimination.
