In accordance with Oviedo Convention on human rights and biomedicine which was ratified by 29countries, it states that any form of genetic editing should only be conducted for diagnostic, preventive, or therapeutic purposes and if it is not aimed at introducing any modification in the genome of any descendants. Genetic modification should be banned since it’s a violation of human freedom. For instance, in 2015 there was the first use of CRISPR–Cas9 gene‐editing system in a nonviable embryo to repair a disease mutation. In 2016, there was the first step in mitochondria replacement technology to repair an embryo in its early stages. The technique was reported to be successful. In 2018, a Chinese geneticist declared that he implanted an embryo that had been genetically modified with the CRISPR-Cas9 method. This procedure has raised significant controversy both in the public and scientific (“Parenting in the age of Preimplantation gene editing,” 2017).
