A.     Consider the different teams presented in your reading assignment. How do the teams manage their team boundaries? What are the trade-offs between internal cohesion and external ties within each type of team? Support your discussion with at least two (2) external sources.

Classmate 1:

There are different variations of teams and all the types of teams have different characteristics. There is internal cohesion in the team and external ties. Study shows that internal cohesion is necessary for team growth and to have better performance. The team needs to have the right amount of cohesion. More cohesion will make the team isolated and less interactive with other teams. This will create a problem in the growth and creativity of the team (Towler, 2019).  There needs to be the right number of external ties in the team. Too many external ties will create a problem for having the loss of team identity. There needs to be balanced in the internal relationship and external dies. The company needs to maintain the team identity and make sure the team is improving (Jackowicz, Krzysztof & Kozłowski, Łukasz, 2019).

There are different roles in the team. All team members have some or the other role in the team. The role can be of team builder, innovator, challenger, or organizer, or doers.  I have played multiple roles in the team. In my current team, I am playing the role of the team builder. I play the role to calm the people and to focus on the work. If there are any issues in the team I will jump into the discussion and will try to have a common solution to which everyone will agree to it. There is a need for the team to have a role that can unite the team, and which can bring the team together. I tried to make everyone agree to common interests and to solve any misunderstanding in the team. I also try to encourage the team to be on track and to have the task completed.

Classmate 2:

Part A

       Team boundary distinguishes the team as an entity by itself differentiating it from other groups and the organization. Though teams are part of the organization, they are formed for a specific purpose or goal, and that’s defines the boundary of the team, also defining the scope of tasks, responsibilities, resources and time for the projects (Chen, Smith, Kirkman, Zhang, Lemoine, Farh, 2019) The manager should also have a standing plan, in case someone breaches the boundary to channelize them back to their responsibilities. Boundaries help the manager to set guidelines for the team, to regulate the information flow, responsibilities of the members and helps planning too.

       Internal cohesion leads to building strong relationships and working together with minimum hindrances as the group co-operates and delivers. External ties can always help the team, get a new perspective, create a good network so that they stay informed about what is happening even outside the team. it could benefit the team, with external ties as inter departmental teams can collaborate in the future, and help in the long run. Communication is key to both internal cohesion and external ties, as they can be either positive or negative influencers depending on the communication.

Part B

       The common roles taken up by team members depend on the type of teams they belong to, some teams may require roles that may not be required in others, and so on. The common list of roles of a high functioning team are leader, facilitator, coach and a member, these roles are crucial for a successful team as the members also take up roles of a coordinator, motivator, completer and shaper (de Souza, Costa, & Capaldo, 2020). These roles help the team to perform at its best, ensures there is trust and commitment to the purpose, also aids in conflict management and resolution among team members. In my team, I have observed my role to be that of a facilitator, as I try to manage the group meetings, help all the members to take active part, clarify any issues and plan according to the deadlines.

There should be awareness in setting up team boundaries when we take into consideration global teams (Espinonza, A., & Wilson, J. 2003). The recommendation is that- it is imperative to: fittingly measure the boundaries which is important to the examination, survey and control for other compelling boundaries inside and across teams, and recognize the impacts of every boundary in each group result of interest which eventually impacts the overall performance of the team. Just through strategic thinking regarding tea  building we can appropriately evaluate the impacts of team boundaries and value their examination by utilizing data frameworks to help collective work. Every individual in the group should assume liability for contributing their best and driving the group to arrive at its results and objectives. This is the thing I learned and conveyed to my group and furthermore followed to accomplish the objectives and targets. The group is assembling along with multiple representatives with various learning styles, ascribes, work styles, and various practices. They all will be allocated on a mutual goal with singular abilities. So there are a few people like administrators, group pioneers who need to keep up inside and outer connections since they need to deal with everything (Wietske, V., & Steinfield, W. 2016).

It is significant for the groups to deal with pressures in a positive manner. The colleagues must be thought about their own feelings in certain circumstances and they should be remembered that what they are managing and how might they accomplish it effectively. A few people incline toward administrators heading the group since they need to deal with everything, both inside and remotely. Clients are division work and interrelate with one another to share the data. Everybody in the group should likewise be responsible and a pioneer and guide the group to the end goal. This is same kind of disposition and capacity that the group needs to submit. The group is constructing along with multiple representatives with various learning styles, ascribes, work styles, and various practices. The correct combination of various classifications of individuals is needed to be in a group.
