Discussion Board
New Evidence in Plate Tectonics
COLLAPSE
Greetings Class,
First, thank you all for your participation in the discussion board #1. I’m happy to see students coming from different backgrounds, but are all interested in Geology. I hope to give you all a good understanding of this field of science in the coming weeks.
With this week’s discussion board, I would like us to discuss plate tectonics. This is a field that is constantly changing, especially as technology improves, causing scientists to reconsider our past understandings of earth processes. Do a little research and find a recent journal article from a reputable source- something that was published between the years of 2010 – 2017. Use the library website to assist you in your search:
https://www.richlandcollege.edu/services/academic-support/library/pages/default.aspx
Find an article that interests you within the field of plate tectonics and create a thread with a link to your article or attach the document for the class to view. Discuss this article within your thread and detail the importance of this article within the field of geology and how it changes our current understanding of plate tectonics. Then comment on at least TWO of your fellow classmates posts. Read and discuss the article they posted. One or two sentence replies will not count as full credit…put some thought into the discussion board and actually discuss the topic, do not just say “great article, thanks for sharing”, rather state why the article is great to you with examples from the article.
I am attaching a link to an article examining how the inner core may have an inner core as an example.

Remember that one or two sentence responses will not get you full credit on the discussion posts. Be sure to not submit an article that someone else has already submitted – so it is a first come, first serve basis. You can always email me if you have any questions about your article.
