This weeks readings (chapter and articles) cover two distinct topics, Inpatient Facilities & Services and Managed Care & integrated Organizations.  However, they are linked in a financial way that goes back some 25 years ago.  That is when the transition from inpatient to outpatient began.   That is also when Managed Care started to make inroads into the HC arena.  Please read the chapters and articles carefully and tell me why the Managed Care organizations were able to take hold and push the transition from inpatient to outpatient.
