Describe the best practice to employ to mitigate malware effects on a machine.

Malware software is a program that is designed to steal confidential information and to get access of our devices. Earlier, these malware’s had been particularly intended for propagation’s. But these days they are focused on organizations to steal their confidential data which impacts in loss of productivity and revenue. Organizations should proactively work to detect Malware software’s at early stages (Musthaler,2011).
Types of Malware: In this technological world, there are different types of malware coming into existence. Some of the most common type of Malware are adware, ransomware, rootkits, spyware, Trojans and so on. The below stated are some of the best practices used to avoid installing malware software on the machines (Beckham,2014).
Updating Anti- Malware Software: One of the best methods to protect confidential data is through installing anti-malware software program. If any malicious data gets detected immediately contact the Human Resources team or respective higher authorities and lodge a complaint. Update anti-virus software regularly. It is also best practice to update all software and hardware programs regularly.
Minimizing usage of Mapped drives: Malware’s spread easily via mapped drives. It is recommendable to close the mapped drives regularly when not using them. Also, maintain Read-only permission for such network drives rather than Admin rights (Musthaler,2011).
Block malware threat: There are many strong tools available in the market to control the malware threats. Some of them includes Symantec Endpoint Protection, device control tools will help to block P2P network use.
Ensure Mobile phone security: Most of the employees for their convenience to use their mobile phones to check their work emails and join meetings. According to RSA reports intruders will try to attack your mobile phones and install malware software (Beckham,2014).
Strong passwords: One of the best practices is to rotate password every couple of weeks. Maintain a strong password. Also use 2-factor authentication techniques to secure the data.
