Chemistry on acid base and salts
Exercise
1. Calculate the change in pH when 10.0 ml of a 0.100 M solution of NaOH is added to 1.00 L of a solution that is 1.00 M in sodium acetate and 1.00 M in acetic acid
2. Calculate the percentage cocaine existing as free base in solution of cocaine hydrochloride at the following pH:
a) 4.6 b) 8.0 c)12.0
3. The pKb of 200 mL 0.1M pilocarpine (RNH2) is7.5 at 25 degrees C,
I) What is the percent of free base present at pH 5.8 and pH 11.4 ?
II) What is the acidity constant of the conjugate acid of pilocarpine at 25 degrees C?
III) How may a sample of pilocarpine be rendered more water soluble?
IV) Calculate the pH of the 0.1 M pilocarpine solution
V) Calculate the pH after 100 mL of 0.1 M HCl is added to the above pilocarpine solution
4. Please recommend a good study text or Manual if you can on Acid Base and Salt that covers the above equations
