The movie is all about four females, created in the year 1993. An-Mei had lost her mother and later decided to attend one of the parties that her mother used to participate in. When she arrives at the party happening place, she notices that almost all the daughters and the friends present were of her mother through the warm receptions she receives and even how she interacts with them very joyfully, which is observed when taking a photo kitchen. When she attends the party, she is sitting where her mother used to stay, as explained in the movie. She is observed to be liking much to playing the mahjong instrument together with her aunts. At the table where she is invited to take a photo, the ladies are very optimistic, which makes her feel part of them.

The movie is noted to be having much series of flashbacks by four women, who was An-Mie has a flashback on how her mother’s life earlier on used to be, where she remembers this and found that the husband to his mother was not the first one her mother got married to. Through the flashback, she gets to know some information that her mother had given birth to two female daughters she didn’t take care of. This Is what makes her have some mistrust levels to her mother. Later on in the movies, she gets to identify that this sister of hers had survived through the hands of good hearted woman who took care of them and that now it was that for her to meet them at the party. Through flashback, other three Chinese nationality women residing in the United States get to flashback their memories, thus exploring their past life journey. In all the observed instances, it evident that the stories’ plot is about the mother-daughter relationship.

Relatives and the grandmother raise An-Mei after the death of her mother. Later on, in life, she gets reunited with her mother by the name Vivian, who had been disowned by her family earlier on due to the acts of dalliance to them from the movie its seen a case where the mother to An-Mei was saying that she went to see her mother dying. For him not to lose her again, An-Mei is seen moving with her mother outside the house as the relatives were all wishing for her to remain; this is because the relative had terrible ideas that she would destroy her life. When she arrives at the event house, the second wife to Wu Tianming welcomes her there with a necklace which sat as a gift for her. Later on, her birth mother destroys the chain, and it was noticed that it was made from glass. As time went, it’s where she comes to learn that her mother was the fourth wife to this rich man and how it came to be she gets to know it too.

It noted that her mother’s death was a suicide just after telling her the truth about her situation, where she consumed the sticky sweet dumpling. This made Wu-Tsing vowed to bring Mei together with her brother and even honored her mother as the first wife. Later on in life, she gets married to a person who was being criticized by her mother, who complained of the man’s race. It’s also observed that Mei used to visit rose and explained to her many stories about her mother’s life journey and the experiences she had with her. At June’s farewell, Ted and Rose are observed kissing each other as they share the cake, but their marital status by that time is not revealed in the movie. The reason behind An-Mei’s mother committing suicide was that she lost much status when her husband passed on something that predisposed her to be raped and even being forced into immoral activities by the wealthy man Wu Tsing. She does it so that even her daughter can get the freedom to avoid her from following her steps, which would have exposed her to being sexually abused etc.

Jing-me is observed refusing to take lessons for the piano at four o’clock as usual due to her experiences earlier on in life with her mother. This made her mother see like she could not be able to do so, thus avoiding the disappointments that would have arisen. Jing is observed that she has a feeling ha her mother needs more positive results from her, which too was like too much and that she didn’t want to fail her. To make sure that she doesn’t attend the piano lesson, she insults her mother of the two twin’s death stories. This makes even her mother have a shift of focus as direction on her, thus missing the lesson. Her mother was much concerned about her performance at any task given as she doesn’t want her to suffer one day as she used to suffer then and now.

Later on, she is noted to play the piano, something that was an outstanding achievement to her mother, and this could fulfill her dream of doing great in the united states. To my understanding, this piano represents the struggle and quarrels that she had now and then with her mother. Thinks argues that possibly she had the same thoughts of not doing something that her mother needed it being done, such as daily chores and activities other than piano playing. Also, from the video, it’s very evident that Jing-Mei’s character was that she was a hardworking lady as she practices the piano until she becomes very excellent at it. She is also cunning and brutal to understand as she doesn’t involve herself in something that she doesn’t want to participate in. she uses the last secrets that had been revealed to her in fighting back what she doesn’t want to do, which makes an individual change his/her idea.

The piano is a symbol of hope for Jing’s family, which is why she emphasized having practice on it. When the aunties gave her $1200 in an envelope so that she could take the cash and travel to China and inform her sisters of their mother’s death, after which she promises the aunties that she will take the correct information, he notices her potentials ad promises her mother a need she had of becoming perfect so that her mother would have a status and win even the competition .as she wants to be self-driven. An-Mei being another character is observed to have a scar that acts as a reminder that her mother visited Popo’s house while crying as she begged her tome accompany her. The Popo in the joy club is noted to be having an issue that contributes to his sickness, which makes the wife get back home to take care of him. Unfortunately, this man died later on, even without reconciling with An-Mei’s mother, something ta haws not an expectation to many.

Several reasons make the joy club important to various people, as seen in the movie, as it usually helps the individuals connect in a much more responsible manner. This is observed in the way An-Mie is treated as she attends the peace for the first time since her mother’s death. It removes the feeling of being isolated as Mei is observed interacting with most people, thus craving the sense of isolation. This all helps oneself in healing as he\she participates in the social activities happening there, thus relieving the pain, explosive and even feeling of being loaded. This all gets relived when the participants get to share their information.

In conclusion, several lessons have been learned from watching the movie, including that parents should heavily support their children in what they like doing most provided it’s acceptable. This helps in improving their potential on particular talents they have. Also, it’s essential for the parents not to disclose to the children some of the secrets that are too sensitive from the movies. This helps in maintaining a perfect relationship between them and the children. They should not impose heavy punishment on children when they go wrong as it may affect their spirit to a particular issue.

More so, from the Jing-Mei story, it’s perfect for parents to understand what their children love most and support it. Those of them needing to engage themselves in marriage relationships should do it with total commitment. In case of anything, they remain in the marriage by defending it. People should also learn how to stay with others, as this is evident from the rich man’s four wives waiting in humbleness and peace. Whenever one finds that he/she is undergoing sexual abuse, taking actions of suicide is not the best option for it but rather learning how to share problems as answers can be gotten. When there is sexual abuse, one can also report to the relevant authorities for help. Lastly, children should be respectful to their parents, not as observed in the movies of disrespect.
