Assessment Regulations:
• Plagiarism: In case of plagiarism, you will receive an email to resubmit your work, with the
following rule:
o Resubmission within 24h from email notification: 40% deduction
o Resubmission within 48h from email notification: 60% deduction.
o Failing to resubmit within two days after notification means that the assessment will
be
awarded 0.
• Late Submission: After the submission deadline, students have a maximum 2-days grace
period for late submissions with the following penalty (excluding Fridays):
o first day, within 24h from the deadline, 40% deduction
o Second day, within 48h from the deadline, 60% deduction.
o Failing to submit within two days after notification means that the assessment will be
awarded 0.
• Wrong Submission: Students have the full responsibility of:
o submitting the required documents within the deadline
o verifying that the correct files are submitted

Question 1 [40 points]
The loss of trees and other vegetation can cause climate change, desertification, soil erosion, fewer
crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and a host of problems for indigenous
people. Especially, this is topical in countries with a hot weather, where trees are a vital need. Kuwait
faces problem of missing a sufficient amount of trees because of the high ambient temperatures (during
summer up to 60 degrees). This impacts the air temperature, air quality, the oxygen level, noise, and
many others. Planting trees in a desert or area around is a challenging task, thus, different, and most
promising engineering solutions should be considered under such extreme weather conditions.
