READING & STUDY GUIDE QUESTIONS

The reading in this section focuses on the issue of student debt and how to address it. The author we will focus on is Keven Carey and his article “The US Should Adopt Income-based Loans Now.” In his article he states a position and then proposals a solution to address the problem.

Be sure to answer each of the below questions to help you be prepared for the in-class discussion of this article. Most of the questions are content based and do not require an essay type response; you can bullet info but be sure to identify the page and paragraph number for each response. I will not collect these. These are intended to help you read the article more critically and to be prepared for the in-class discussion, which will also help with making participation points.

5. Where does Carey address his opposition (there are two places in his article). How well does he refute these opposing claims? What kind of evidence does he use to support his refutations?
