EARTHWORKS

Thursday Feb 27th, At the Beginning of class
DESCRIPTION:
For this project, you will be creating an earthworks art piece of your own design. After gathering a
grasp on the different forms earthworks can take, you will create a piece, photograph it, and then
submit it as a PDF on Blackboard in the Earthworks Project section. Please keep in mind I said
“create a piece”, which means taking organic objects and assembling them yourself to create a
composition; not simply taking a photograph of bushes or twigs on a tree. This also means that you
cannot utilize a photograph taken at an earlier date than when this project is posted on Blackboard,
but you must rather use these few days until the deadline to consider a design, how materials will
affect the composition, and how to take the knowledge we’ve discussed so far in class and put it to
use.
With your PDF photograph, include your full name, the title of your piece, what you enjoy about your
art piece, and what you found challenging about its’ creation. There must be clear evidence that at
least an hour was spent constructing your earthworks project! Keep in mind that we always discuss
what the artist’s intention was, so please display clear evidence of thoughtfulness and consideration
in the execution of your design.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
The project is a PDF, you have included your full name, the title, what you enjoy about the piece, and
what was challenging.
The piece displays a creative use of materials.
There is a clear focal point.
Color, Texture, Pattern, Shape, and Line were used effectively in the composition.
