Topic 1: Just for professionals?

While cultural relativism is important for anthropologists in the field, is worrying about the dangers of ethnocentrism that important for people who aren’t studying culture? Give an example of how trying to understand a belief, custom, or point of view in the context of its original society and culture could benefit someone in their regular everyday life.

Topic 2: Needful things

Imagine all of the things that you could not do if you had no electricity or running water in your homes?  This is still the case for many people around the world and even in the USA.  See
