Abuse
What characteristics would lead a provider to suspect domestic violence, child abuse, or elder abuse is taking place within a family? Discuss your facility’s procedure for reporting these types of abuse.
At my facility we are required to report any suspected abuse to our abuse coordinator which is also our facility administrator. If at any time we don’t feel comfortable reporting to the administrator or would like to report anonymously we are permitted to do that as well.
Florida law requires the reporting of known or suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect of vulnerable adults (elderly or disabled). The
Florida Abuse Hotline
is the part of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to which the report is made. The Florida Abuse Hotline receives reports 24 hours a day from anywhere in the United States.
