Case Study and Care Plan Introduction The growth in the computing abilities and smartphones has increased the footprint of communication network and thus IT can be exploited to increase the access of the healthcare services to patients. Mobile technology can be used for healthcare service providers and patients in equal measure. Doctors could for example be used smartphone apps to seek clinical knowledge and case studies while patients are utilizing same to have access to the health information which will provide understanding of the disease and its management. Patient planned care is an organized assessment and identification of the patient’s problems and needs and means in which to achieve the set goals (American Psychological Association, 2020). The methods and practices are based on evidence-based practice. This assignment will come up with a case study and create a nursing care plan and incorporate the mobile app technology to solve this problem. Body The huge developments in the mobile technology together with its technology provides a good platform in which healthcare provider can best serve their patients and have good access to healthcare information. the use of information and communication technologies for health which continues to grow rapidly worldwide. It provides plenty of benefits in that it makes the web-based health services easier, quicker, accurate and cost effective (Edelman & Kudzma, 2018). In healthcare there is huge need to address chronic diseases in the best way possible to contain their growth, through creating of awareness, education and the enable self-management of disease by

Mobile technologies together with the IT technologies play a big role in disseminating this information and thus help in better management of the disease. It is important to point out that the mobile technology growth rate is fast, and the number of mobile connections continues to grow each day worldwide with global mobile traffic continues to increase.

Case study Tom is a 65-year-old retired teacher and is currently traveling in the U.S with her wife to undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Tom’s doctors in India

 have 

suggested that he undergo the surgery to remove his gall bladder which will involve performing of his incision to the abdomen. One of the

 reasons 

for the removal of the gallbladder removal is due to cholelithiasis a condition that is normally caused by precipitation of substances that are contained in bile. Acute cholecystitis is majorly attributed to the inflammation of the gallbladder and the obstruction of the gallbladder by the gallstones. It can also be associated with sepsis, severe trauma, or the infection of the gallbladder. Tom is known to have a history of the hypertension where there

 are 

consistent blood pressure readings above the normal range. Furthermore, he is suffering from osteoarthritis knee caused by cartilage in joints. His hypertension condition is managed by the daily consumption of blood pressure drugs. While at his trips Tom has reported to be suffering from huge pain at his abdomen and shoulder. One of the problems with the situations, is that there is a new surgeon in place and a fresh graduate that wants to operate on Tom. The problem is escalated with the fact that he had only performed one such operation with a patient under lead surgeon. He was still not very conversant with the procedure and thus needs to prepare himself for the surgery. The plan The activities of daily living are normally performed at the course of the day. The postoperative patients do have problems to independently perform certain task and it is the role of the healthcare providers for patients to achieve the same level of functioning or greater after any of the intervention. Pain management is considered as high priority and it should be managed effectively considering it could influence Tom’s physical and psychological state and affect his ability to perform daily activities. Tom needs to be informed that the shoulder pain is a common symptom for laparoscopic cholecystectomy and reassure them that it is not an adverse complication. After the surgery the wound care is crucial for Tom. He should be encouraged on how to effectively take care of the wound. With the advancement of mobile technology, the mobile application has been developed which enables the healthcare providers learn laparoscopic surgery (American Psychological Association, 2020). The mobile app was developed by a team of professional surgeons, urologists, and gynecologists. The mobile app can be found on the google search and can be downloaded in minutes of Apple store or Google play. The app allows any trainee surgeon to see a robotic surgery step by step in the video format. The video furthermore provides guidelines on training and credentialing. The mobile app is of great significance to individuals that want to technique on laparoscopic mobile applications. This would be a great source for the young surgeon to prepare himself on.
