Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your peers. Imagine you are one of the parents concerned about play and have just received this newsletter. What would you say to the teacher in response to the information?

Was the letter convincing enough to change your mind about play? Provide a rationale. What are two questions/concerns you have about play, or what are two important things you learned about play from this letter?

Then, returning to the teacher’s role, respond to at least two of your peers who crafted responses to your newsletter from the perspective of parents, addressing their questions and concerns.

Dear room 20 families

Good morning, this letter is to give our parents/ guardian a brief ideal of what your child do in the classroom and the technique that we use with them to make learning fun. As you all know, school is a place for learning but why just learn when you can make learning fun a well. Mrs. Joseph and I have been working with the students this week with learning colors, body parts, and ABCs. As we explain the activities with you, we hope that you continue doing these activities at home with your child/ children.

“RULE #1: Life Is Supposed To Be FUN”

According to Kenneth Ginsburg 2007, play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. I truly agree with him because I feel the same way. I feel that a child could learn all they need and be able to play at the same time. I think that playing will make them want to learn more and be more aware of what they or learning in the classroom.

Play in our classroom

With colors, we allow the children to run and get a toy and explain to the class what color is their toy. Then we allow them to guess their neighbors toy color if it is different. Learning the body parts is more fun. It gives the child/children a break to dance and learn at the same time. This song is on YouTube and its call the Tutti Ta dance. This dance allow the child to pick out a certain part of their body and point it out and use them in the dance. The Tutti Ta dance is a good dance to learn the body. We also sing the ABC song together as a group. Again, all the things we do that may consider playing is a learning experience for kids.

“EVERY MOMENT IS A FRESH BEGINNING”

Everything we do plays a role in the child development. With this learning experience, the child is using their physical, self-help, and cognitive domain. When they dance off the Tutti Ta song the child/children or using their physical domain they or using their hands, hips, legs etc. When they picking out a toy they or using their self-help. The fact that they or finding their own toy is they doing it along and working by themselves. Singing the ABC song is cognitive they or using their mind to remember the song and the letters that come after each other.

Weekly Food for Thought…

3/

Dear room 108 families

Play is the way to learn new information in the way that suits you best. It is taking an interest in something and becoming engaged with it for a long period of time. Being told to do something is one thing, but to learn it all by yourself through play will lead to better results.

“Play is the highest form of research”

“Guided play features child agency and gentle adult guidance toward the learning goal.” Guided play represents an enhanced discovery and it is a model set for learning too. Through the different types of play, students will be able to meet their standards.

Play in our classroom

In my classroom I’d use

· Sensory play

. Playdough

. Sand

. Felt boards

· Language

. Setting up a center with books for students to be intrigued about

· Dramatic play

. Set up a scene and let the children come up with their own play ideas

· Active play

. Have walking beams, music, other equipment to encourage physical activity

· Block Center

Children are the drivers of the classroom, the teachers just give them the instructions that goes with it.

Play is integrated into learning by have the five spheres of development in the classroom. In the active zone, the students will have motor development to increase the growth of her muscles and coordination. The block center will have problem solving centers to meet the cognition development. The language center will develop communication skills through literacy. Dramatic play can help both social-emotional development and self help skills. It can teach the students to work together and to learn self help skills.
