Each student will curate a global popular music stream on Spotify. A complete assignment meets
the following criteria:
a) Program a one-hour (or 12-15 track) segment of global popular music that represents one
of the listed regional genres (see below).
b) Give your musical program a title.
c) Write three pages (750 words) of “listening notes” that give an overview of the chosen
musical genre and information about each example regarding its musical characteristics
and social or cultural context.
d) “Broadcast” your program by uploading the listening notes and Spotify playlist link (right
click on the playlist name an select “Copy HTTP Link”) to the CCLE website Discussion
Forum.
e) You must also submit the listening notes via TurnItIn.
Note: your playlist and listening notes will be visible to other students in the course. If you prefer
your work remain anonymous, please notify the instructor before you post your work to the
CCLE Discussion Forum.
