Domestic terrorism in the United States involves domestic attacks that happen within the United States. According to the United States’ current law, domestic terrorists are acts that when carried out endanger human life, andlife and are a violation of the United States criminal laws and any other state (Hale, 2005). The acts happen to US citizens, non-citizens, and US permanent residents. Further, according to the FBI domestic terrorism are violent criminal acts by a group or an individual that originate from political, racial, social, or religious influences. Part I
Domestic terror attacks in the United States have been experienced since early 19th century to the current. In 2015, a white supremacist acted under the influence that whites are superior than black people. As a result, the supremacist performed an attack in the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Nine people including South Carolina’s senator were shot and killed (Sanchez & Payne, 2015). The act happened as a result of racial influence from admiration of apartheid in South Africa and Rhodesia. The terrorist racially abused black people in South Carolina. In the process, all the groups of United States’ citizens were affected. However ,However, the United States government has been working to curb the attacks. While terrorism has been experienced in the United States, the “Right-wing Extremist” is a topic of interest. The attacks result from influences like the while-nationalism, while separatism, ethnicity, religious nationalism as well as sovereign citizens’ beliefs. After being reported as a threat for over 25over 25 years, the group poses a threat to national and homeland security. The group has been involved in more about 90% of attacks in 2020 (Jones, Doxsee & Harrington, 2020). From the various influences that trigger the attacks, the terror group operates on the borders and cyberspace among many other platforms they use to terrorize US citizens. Being the major areas where a nation’s citizens operate in, the sector should be well protected to ensure homeland security in the government and in any other state. Therefore, domestic terrorism is a threat to homeland security in the United States and any other nation. To ensure safety is achieved, addressing the “Right-wing Extremist” threat has ensured the safety of the US citizens, non-citizens, and the pPermanent US citizens.
