Executive Summary

Recession, business closures, unemployment have become common trends over last few months. Many businesses may not open again due to huge losses caused by COVID-19 pandemic. People who worked at these organisations may become unemployed for a long term. There are many jobs which can be done from home but they need a different skill altogether such as data management, data entry, virtual assistant, web designing and so on. Realising the needs for future needs of businesses and unemployment issue of youth, this project aims to fill this gap of skill requirement for work from home opportunities. They will get an opportunity to learn these skills from home using online web-based and mobile application-based solutions. At the end, of course, they will be issued a certificate and job referral for different openings in their area. This project will contribute to eliminating unemployment and will contribute to the progress of Australian economy.

Reasons for Doing the Project

After COVID-19 outbreak, the economy of Australia is suffering the shocks. Many mainstream industries such as tourism, entertainment are hit hard by the pandemic and a number of businesses have shut down operations due to severe losses due to no revenue for months and regulations imposed by the government (Hickey, 2020). Unemployment is on the rise, and due to this outbreak, it has increased as about more than 600,000 people have lost their jobs since June 2020 (Murphy,

2020). Still, it is not sure how long this pandemic will affect people’s life and economy of Australia. It may take months or years to things become normal.

Thus, this project aims to prepare youth of Darwin city to learn employable skills which could help them resuming their career or shifting their career to a new stream. Due to closure of many businesses some people may find it difficult to work in same industry in future. This project will help them explore alternative career options and train them accordingly.

Keeping in view this environment, we have proposed this an online web-based and mobile application-based training solution for needy people to learn emerging and in-demand professions and skills to get jobs. This project will serve the most deserving segment of society. It will contribute to the welfare and uplifting of their living standards equally positively contributing to the economy of the country.

Objectives

Following are the two main objectives of this project: –

· First, to contribute to the welfare of society by helping jobless people to prepare for jobs in demand and raising their living standards.

· Second, this free of cost project will contribute to the economy of the country by preparing skilled people for in-demand fields.

List the Business Options

This is a non-revenue based, community welfare project. This project does not charge any amount from the applicants and is totally based on funding provided by the university. The project setup and running charges will be met by the funding provided for the project.

Project Requirements

Different types of requirements are identified for a project. There are two main types of requirements identified as Functional and Non-Functional Requirements. In the following, we have defined functional and non-functional requirements for our project.

Functional Requirements:

Functional Requirements define the core requirements for a project, including the services a system must offer (Glowa, Goodell, & Jim, 2016).

· User will register themselves on the online system through web-based interface or mobileapplication

· User will be able to search for different courses on the online platform.

· Users can view the courses for skills for which jobs are in demand.

· User can register themselves for at most two courses.

· User can continue their course in different sittings in their comfortable time.

· A chat facility will be provided for students to post queries to the instructor.

· Students will be able to send email to the instructor from the system for any query.

· Student can take an online exam to pass the course.

· The administrator will be able to update different courses on the system.

· Different reports will be generated through the system, including the number of applicants taking courses, and the number of applicants who got jobs through these courses and so on.

· The system will maintain each course attempt history by each user.

Non-Functional requirements:

Non-functional requirements are implicit requirements of a system which needs to be accomplished in a system (Adams, 2015). We have identified the following non-functional requirements for the system: –

· High availability for the system will be ensured for making the system live 24/7.

· High security will be ensured for making sure the privacy of people data.

· Users

· The system will have high usability for its interfaces. Users will be able to easily use the system.

· All applications will be approved by the moderator; then the system will allow users to start the course.

· The system will be of high performance, and the user will be able to operate the whole system efficiently without any processing delays.

· The newly developed system will provide 100% accurate courses, their lectures, status, progress and results for participants.

Assumptions for this project:

Following are the possible assumptions for this project: –

· This is a non-revenue-based community welfare project, and the university will provide funding.

· The project will have a high response from the local community.

· It is assumed that all required human resources for project implementation will become available.

· Project cost will not change during the cost of the project, including HR and material costs.

· The scope of the project will not change throughout the project.

The constraints for this project:

Following are different constraints for the project: –

· The project will be completed within the allocated budget.

· The project will be completed within the allocated time schedule.

· The project will be completed within all allocated available resources.

Costs

Following is the projected estimated cost for the project: –

Explain how you estimated costs.

In this project, we have used parametric cost estimation technique. In parametric cost estimation technique, units for the project are identified, and then their costs are identified, and the total sum of all units show the full project cost.
