Part 1: Preparation

From the onset and throughout this course, you’ve been introduced to the seven visual elements of art as the basic components of art making. These elements include: line, color, shape, form, value, space, and texture. It is impossible to create a work of art without using at least one of the seven visual elements of art.

Your Week 10 assignment requires you to select a piece of modern art from your textbook that you would like to hang on your wall at home or in your office, and then analyze your selection based on two of the seven visual elements.

To give you a head start on this assignment complete the following:

· Review the Apply the Seven Visual Elements to Art: How Do You Organize and Harmonize Your Art? assignment instructions and its scoring guide so that you understand what is expected of you. (See Week 10.)

· Select the piece of modern art from your textbook that you would like to hang on your wall in your home or office, and that you will feature in your assignment due in Week 10. (SEE BELOW)

· Watch the seven short videos (most are 2–3 minutes long; the longest is 7:20) on

Please respond to the following in a post of 150 to 200 words:

· Post a screen shot of the piece of modern art you selected that you would like to hang on your wall.

· Explain your reason for selecting this particular piece of modern art. In other words, what, specifically about this piece of art speaks to you?

· Identify the two visual elements that are most prominent in the piece of art you’ve chosen.

· Describe how you see these two elements displayed in your selected work of art.

Note: You will be using this information from this post in your assignment due in Week 10.

In a post of 60 to 75 words, please respond to at least one other post. Choose to respond to those who have few or no responses.

· HHello Professor,

The art that I would like to hang on my wall would be something that is very personal to me that I take pride in. It would be an image of my cigar lounge logo. The colors for this piece of art are actually my favorite colors and the black background is a bold appeal to me. My opinion is that black is a color that is very sleek to me. The value that this image brings to me is what I think and represent for my business. I would definitely have this image inside a frame so I can make sure that this art is not damaged and I would be able to pass this down to kids. I want to have the spirit of successful owning and taking of this business as I have done. This would be my way of showing my kids that I care for their well being and I want them to carry the family business on. So having value for something is meaning that you take ownership and pride in this art. No matter what type of art it is. It is showing you that you value and love what this art means.

ECO110: Taking Charge of your Economic Future

Week 9 Discussion

Part 1: Risk Management

Insurance companies willingly take on our risk for a fee. Give an example of a risk that you or someone else has chosen to insure.

How could you use your technology skill and Excel to organize and analyze data and help you decide if a specific insurance is a good value for the example you gave? Think about the cost and consequences of not having insurance versus the cost of the insurance over time.

Please respond to a classmate’s post as well

RE: Risk Management

Class

I have always looked at insurance companies as a rep off/get over on people, but this chapter has opened my eyes as if it is a two-way risk for a fee.  Learning more about investing in stocks, bonds and real estate, when taken risk you have to have some type of insurance to cover every asset you have, or you will in up losing it all.  I had a friend who dealt with all three stocks, bonds and real estate but when he pasted his children lost all most everything. One factor was the type of insurance, how much insurance and the difference between term and life. I am sure when he purposed the insurance, he was thinking it would cover all aspects of his life for his children. When it was time to pay out the find print was what hi the family because it value was supposed to cover all assets, but the value of the insurance was not even close. Looking on the bright side of things if he did not have insurance at all, his children would have lost everything.

As technology grows, I would say my technology skills grows also. As for using Excel, I really do not use Excel a lot in my life. I see were incorporating in into some of my day to day lifestyle/function would benefit from it. I always use comparison when I’m trying to find my best obsession but never thought to put it into excel and let it work it out for me. This is something I’ll have to work on.Bottom of Form

Good evening Professor,

The common theme that I pick up on is faith for these individuals faith is what grounded them and helped them face hard times during their life’s journey. Everyone seems to have a sense of family and adaptation that was needed in ways that only they had to change, my father was a major influence in my life. It also seems these individuals had a strong sense of self and had somewhat of a general idea of where he or she could be most useful with their skills. Also, setting short-term goals that they knew they could meet. Some learned compassion and took up the fight to be a fighter for the less fortunate. But in the long haul, each one of them was able to reach their goals.

What I have learned is perseverance patience and compassion are a must when setting up one’s game plan.

One must have a destination direction that they can see themselves moving in to know exactly where one wants to go and how to get there.

Putting a plan in place on how to reach my desired destination.

Being aware of the obstacles that may come up along the journey and how to handle those little interruptions.

Set short term goals that are achievable and most importantly never give up.
