It is important that the United States stays involved with science, the growing global warming issues, and climate change. If we had a country that did not care about these issues it would make us very ignorant compared to other countries who have done their part to protect their people from these growing issues. These issues are due part from our own human activity. Once we as whole unite on this issue we can make for better changes and policy implementations. Thomas R. Dye puts it quite perfectly from this week’s chapter 13 reading, “Ignoring these economic realities simply wastes the resources of society, lowers our standard of living, and in the long run impairs our ability to deal effectively with any societal problem, including environmental protection” (Dye, R. T. 2017).

One example of a treaty that the United States has been apart is the Paris Climate Agreement. This is, “The Paris Agreement is a landmark environmental accord that was adopted by nearly every nation in 2015 to address climate change and its negative impacts” (Denchak, M. 2018). The arrangement expects to considerably decrease worldwide ozone depleting substance outflows with an end goal to restrict the worldwide temperature increment in this century to 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels, while seeking after intends to restrict the expansion to 1.5 degrees. The arrangement incorporates duties from all major transmitting nations to cut their atmosphere modifying contamination and to fortify those responsibilities after some time (Denchak, M. 2018). This serves as a pact from all the nations and even the underdeveloped ones as a way to assist in climate change efforts.

Climate change and global warming is very significant and we are the cause of the issue. It is mostly the greenhouse gas emissions that we generate that are cause of earth’s rapidly changing climate (Denchak, M. 2017). As environmental change changes worldwide biological systems, it influences everything from the spots we live to the water we drink to our air.

Dye (2017) sets the stage for climate control policy discussion by highlighting media’s commentary promulgating a catastrophic warming of climate impact necessitating increased regulation (p. 247). Such headlines communicate a sense of urgency toward setting a path to establish sound policy to ensure climate induced pollution is held in check to avoid further negative influence. Establishing a framework for pollution controls needs to reach an expanded audience of industrial influences and consumer patterns. Such regulatory pursuits can be punitive given enforcement measures to maintain compliance. An alternative could be an educational effort to facilitate a value-based understanding of negative influences and behaviors. Policy based on global agreements equates to the Unites States paying the bill for compliance of other regions. This seems rather presumptuous and subject to failure. Binding agreements have little impact, but do offer good prospects for collapse. For any population caring of the environment in which they live, labels can distract. Climate change is a politically charged phrase that distracts from engendering broad based support. A policy of environmental guidelines is reasonable. Setting policy based on fear due to the number of storms, increased temperatures over multiple seasons, or any additional weather defined anomalies, seems unreasonable. Policy moguls also seek remedy through the courts in establishing environmental guidelines. A just and fair advancement of environmental issues cannot be furthered upon a global stage. To set the issue into context, many struggle with this idea of what is a fair and just distribution of rights and responsibilities (Babatunde, 2020, p. 263). Finding direction on the global market is a misdirection. Depending on government to direct behavior is an overreach.
