1. My experiment in which I could usea Chi-squared for goodness of fit test in order to examine a topic of either race or gender I would do it on Middle-aged women of African-American origin experience are more introverted compared to women of other racial origins. In this experiment my independent variable would be the participant it’s self and my dependent variable would be the tools that helps to determine the women’s personalities. The dependent variable would change if the independent variable was to be played around with.
2. An example of a Chi-Squared for Goodness of Fit test would be how gender affects individuals in the working society. We would want to determine whether or not gender is important to the number of people participating in the workplace.
For example, if we had 150 males and 150 females, we would use the Chi-Squared for Goodness of Fit test formula to solve.
(1/2)x200=100
For males we would do (150-100) squared/100=25
The same would be done for females (150-100) squared/100=25
We would then add our to answers 25+25=50.
To get the degrees of freedom, we should subtract 2-1=1 and that would be our degrees of freedom.
Independent variable: gender (male and female)
Dependent variable: Whether he/she is working
3. My example of a Chi- Squared for Goodness of Fit test would test which race is more likely to be hired into an entry level job. We would break the races into three groups: caucasian, black and other. The entry level job would accumulate 100 applicantions: 40 caucasian, 30 black and 30 other. The independent variable is the different groups of people who applied to the job and the dependent variable is the outcome of how many get hired from each group.
4. I could use a Chi-squared Goodness of Fit test to examine how women voted in the last presidential election. A sample of 300 women who voted would be surveyed and answer if they voted for Joe Biden, Donald Trump, or other. It would be expected that 100 of those women voted for Biden, 100 voted for Trump, and 100 voted for other, but the observed values could certainly be different. The independent variable in this experiment would be women surveyed. The dependent variable would be who they voted for.
5. In my experiment example for the Chi-squared goodness of fit test. I would like to examine 200 different women to see which race is more susceptible to workplace sexual harassment. There would be 5 groups, and there would be a total of 40 women in each group to represent Black, Hispanic, White, Indian, and Asian women.
The Independent variable would be the women’s race.
The Dependent variable would be the amount of sexual harassment they receive in their workplace.
