NRS 493 -0503 Professional capstone
Students maintained and submitted weekly reflective narratives throughout the course to explore the personal knowledge and skills gained throughout this course. This assignment combines those entries into one course-long reflective journal that integrates leadership and inquiry into current practice as it applies to the Professional Capstone and Practicum course.
This final submission should also outline what students have discovered about their professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses that surfaced during the process, additional resources and abilities that could be introduced to a given situation to influence optimal outcomes, and, finally, how the student met the competencies aligned to this course.
The final journal should address a variable combination of the following while incorporating your specific clinical practice experiences:
- New practice approaches
- Interprofessional collaboration
- Health care delivery and clinical systems
- Ethical considerations in health care
- Practices of culturally sensitive care
- Ensuring the integrity of human dignity in the care of all patients
- Population health concerns
- The role of technology in improving health care outcomes
- Health policy
- Leadership and economic models
- Health disparities

I learned from this training that positive symptoms are associated with temporal lobe abnormalities and that
negative symptoms are associated with the frontal cortex and ventricular abnormalities. NP Jennefer .
also explained that there are other factors involved like structural brain abnormalities, faulty neuronal
connections, head injury, or epilepsy of the temporal lobe.

Since I had attended a lecture last week on Schizophrenia and did a little research in that area, I decided
this week I thought it would be a great idea to investigate disparities in mental health treatment and care.In
a study conducted by Hamilton, Heads, Meyer, Desai, a study of electronic health record data from a
psychiatric facility I felt further investigation was needed. I know that some of the patients that I assess
who are positive for drugs tell me that the drugs help them to think

I had the opportunity to spend a few hours on zoom with my mentor while doing his inventory on a
spreadsheet. After completing what was assigned to do, my mentor and I looked over the peer review I
chose to complete the literature evaluation table. DQ’s were also done. After thorough and meaningful
research, we narrowed down to eight peer-review articles. I decided to reflect upon Health Policy this week.
Health policy can be defined as decisions.plan and actions incorporated to achieve various

This week was spent doing DQ’s and meeting up with my mentor to discuss other ways to assist me as I
move forward in this course. As I approach the midway of my course my stress levels are soaring high.
Completion of 10 hours was logged, I also met with my faculty Professor and my mentor to discuss what is
needed of me, our meeting was a success. This week I chose to reflect on Population Health Concern. The
main determinant of the health of a community is environmental factors.

This week. I decide to reflect on the health care delivery and clinical system. Optimal health can only be
enjoyed by Americans when they benefit from health care services which are high in quality and properly
coordinated. The health care sector in the United States is made up of clinicians, hospitals, insurance plans
and health care professionals. Insurance plans play an integral part in healthcare delivery systems because
they ensure those who can/cannot afford to pay for various health cost

One of the biggest barriers that we have dealt with since implementing this research project that my
preceptor and I have tried to tackle is lack of attendance with some of the staff members. To see results,
we have to be consistent and not having everyone involved definitely puts limitations on the study. DQ’s
completed and I started my planning ahead to meet week 9 assignments. I reflected on Leadership and
economic models. The current health care system in the United States is unstainable.

No assignment due, I completed my DQ’s and truly believe I have a better understanding of what’s
expected from my instructor. I spent a total of 6 hours this week on assigned work. As the week draws
closer to the end my anxiety level is at its peak, along with work as our facility will be administering the
covid 19 vaccine on Saturday it was no easy getting consent for the vaccine but we did it any way we had
99% of yes. Family stressors. Health disparities are what I reflected on.

After I started reviewing week 9 assignments while on break, I still became overwhelmed. A mental
breakdown was setting in. I met with my preceptor and discussed the proposed change for my EPB. My
preceptor felt we were on the right path with the amount of research completed for this assignment. We
also reviewed all feedback from my professor to help formulate this paper in the right direction. A total of 10
hours spent in the completion of all tasks. DQ’s were interesting and informa
