Discussion Post – Intro to Data Mining

 Need a 200 word discussion post.

Suppose that you are employed as a data mining consultant for an Internet search engine company. In your initial post, please describe how data mining can help the company by giving one specific example of how techniques such as clustering, classification, association rule mining, and anomaly detection can be applied. Do not list all techniques, but select an example of ONE technique for your post.

Respond substantively to at least two other students’ posts. In your peer responses, comment on the newer tools or technologies that are available to support the example mentioned in your classmates’ initial post. Briefly describe one specific tool or technology that fits the example(s) provided. For example, Apache Mahout is an open-source tool that supports the analysis of large high-dimensional datasets and Yahoo! uses Mahout for pattern mining.
