Intervention and evidence-based literature
Mindfulness-based stress reduction is an evidence-based approach that nurses should use when addressing the spiritual needs of patients.
Nurses play a very significant role in patient care.
However, nurses dealing with critical patients always suffer from fatigue and burn-out and are less mindful.
Mindfulness based stress reduction has proved to improve outcomes for both the nurse ad the patient.
It involves challenging the nurse to improve practising standards to meet the needs of the patient.

According to research, nurses, especially those attending to critical patients register high levels of stress and depression. They also experience secondary trauma and moral stress. Researchers reveal that mindfulness based stress reduction and preserves the psychological well-being of nurses (Rushton and Pappas, 2020). EB also extends to holistic care and applies both to patients and nurses. For example, nurses can take care of the spiritual needs of patients who believe in faith and religion. When they are stressed, they are less likely to care about these spiritual needs and leaves patients less satisfied.

Resources needed
A successful EBP implementation requires a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
The organizational structure also plays a direct role in EBP implementation including hierarchy of leadership and institutional decision making.
Internal resources include finances, educators, physicians, a medical library, internet connectivity, quality department, and a charting program.
External resources are also needed and these include supportive policies, nursing schools and programs, health department, and internal projects.

One cannot successfully implement EBP without appropriate resources in place. A supportive culture is one that is ready for change and supports EBP projects holistically. Staff collaboration is necessary because most EBP practices require a collaborative approach and not an individual effort(Williams & Glisson, 2020) . The way an organization is structured determines the effectiveness of an implementation. Leaders must be directly involves in implementation for it to be successful. The internal resources come in handy because they provide the right environment and information for BP implementation. For example, access to the internet enables nurses to access information on how they can manage stress through a mindfulness approach. There are also external resources that support implementation. For example, nursing programs should include mindfulness approach t stress management among nurses. The health department should ensure they avail training programs for nurses on how t manage burnout and reduce stress.

Objectives of implementation
EBP aims at enhancing the quality of patient care.
The second objective is to reduce medication errors.
Another objective is to minimize variation in offering physical therapy services.
EBP commits healthcare providers to improve standards of practice that enhance job satisfaction and improved quality of care in the community.

Nurses are less productive when they are stressed or depressed By implementing a mindfulness approach to stress reduction and management, patients will be more productive and improve patient outcomes. When this intervention is implemented, patients will receive high quality care from relaxed and psychologically safe nurses. It can also lad to reduction of medical errors because one of the causes of these errors in burnout and fatigue. The intervention will minimize variation of physical therapies because nurses will have a right state of mind and offer the same quality of physical care to patients. Over time, nurses will be more committed to enhance job satisfaction and improve the quality of patient care.

Measurable outcomes
Data transparency.
Mortality rate.
Readmission.
Job satisfaction
Patients’ experience.
Timeliness of care.
Treatment outcomes.
Safety of patients’ care.

There are various measurable outcomes that can be used to evaluate the implementation. Data transparency has been a recurring issue in healthcare for a long time. When the issue of nurses burnout has been addressed, data will be more accurate and transparent. Relaxed and motivated nurses will be more productive and offer services that are tailored t meet the target patient outcomes, Consequently, there will be a low mortality rate, reduced rate of readmission, enhanced job satisfaction, better patients experience, timely care, and safe treatment (Melnyk et al., 2018). Generally, the survival rate and quality of life in the community will increase.

Evaluation
A summative evaluation is the most appropriate strategy of evaluating evidence based practice.
It involves collecting and analysing data on the impacts and outcomes of the intervention.
The collection and analysis of data can be done during and after implementation.
Data can be collected through interviews, questionnaires, and secondary data like admission registers to determine patient experiences and outcomes.
A summative approach will determine the effectiveness and cost implications of the intervention.

It is important to evaluate the effectiveness of EBP implementation to inform future decisions. A summative approach is a comprehensive strategy that involves collecting and analysing data in relation to the objectives and target outcomes of the implementation. Based on convenience, data can be collected from nurses, patients, and family members as well as health administrators to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. For example, nurses can be interviewed on how mindfulness stress reduction has impacted them in terms of stress management. If the outcomes are positive, then the intervention is effective. Patients can also share experiences after the intervention has been implemented to inform further actions.
