Topic: Planning for Community Health Outreach
No one sets out to fail. But, how do you know if you are successful?
Consider the health measures on the following Healthy People 2020 documen
t:
Thirteen broad categories for improvement and their associated potential health measures have been identified. In your thread, choose measures from 3 different categories. For each measure write a policy level objective you would like to see enacted to foster improvement in your community for that measure. When setting your 3 objectives, remember to state exactly what is to be achieved. What is expected to change, by how much, and by when?
For example voter turnout rate is listed under community management. A supporting policy level objective for this might be to establish a policy that requires the community leadership team to notify all registered voters in the community with a hand delivered sample ballot to include a list of all candidates and initiatives 1 week prior to the election beginning with the next election.
In your reply, comment on the objectives offered by 2 of your classmates. Help them refine their objectives to be consistent with realistic expectations as evidenced by the literature using at least 2 sources. In the voter turnout objective above, one might argue that giving people information about an election may have no significant impact on turnout. In fact, voter apathy is much more difficult to overcome than simple education. The major political parties spend a great amount of resources overcoming voter apathy. In this Discussion Board Forum it is acceptable to provide feedback to a thread to which a classmate has already responded. Again, remember to extend the utmost courtesy, but remain honest in your appraisal. In addition, the instructor will be looking for evidence that you have given thought to the replies made to your own thread. A simple word of kind acknowledgement is sufficient.
