In the Week 1 Learning Resources- Open and read in the Zimmerman and Snow textbook pgs. 82-87 and the “Recommended Reading” resource-A Brief History of USDA Food Guidelines, about the history and development of the USDA food guidelines. After reading over these resources, please address the following questions:

What do you feel is the overall purpose and goal of developing food guidelines for the general population of the United States?

What did you learn or find interesting about the developmental process that the food guidelines go through?

After reviewing the history of the food guidelines, what interesting changes did you see throughout the development to our current standards?
